Dark Nights
looming and dense
somethings simmering
smell the stench?
the nights are getting darker
i know the stars
appear dull and far
but the city lights
are immense and bright
and sporadically might
shine a little longer
but it seems nights are getting darker
a black cat told me prowling one night
as she purred her sweet song
i heard her plead strong
go low underground
in earth old and hard
there's light to be found
loves calling card
but for now lay low
love yourself and talk slow
listen to the flow
as the nights start getting darker
less shimmer around the world
you'll hear screams of anguish
from women boys and girls
the veil is breaking
the people are angry
give them less but less to lose
and a shadow to remove
as the nights start getting darker
if you see it don't sweat it
fortunes change, things rearrange
you could drown and regret it
cuz things are wavy
in the ruffled quilt of night
but upstream there's a flight
beaming across the sky
shining like the sun
the angels freely fly
and you'll be left behind
if anger leaves you blind
the relentless need rest
let it pass through
find some pjs
to slip into
after the darkest of the nights
you'll wake up brand new
to an endless dream:
love is everything
and you're in it, too
